In researching delays at one particular VA Regional Office, Winston-Salem to be specific, I found this shocking photo. When you click on the link, you see stacks of files piled on top of each other. How can the VA expect to get anything done with this type of filing system? Lost files and goverenment paralysis is what this photo says to me. Without computerized records, how can one expect anything but the VA to be comletely paralyzed in Winston-Salem?
The Winston-Salem Regional Office reports that it has 43,000 cases pending. This is 5,000 less than the St. Petersburg Office, which is five times as large.
