A recent report issued by the Montgomery County, PA, Veterans Service Director claims that many of the county's veterans are not coming forward to claim their benefits. The report shows that the country has the largest number of veterans over the age of 65, but has the lowest number of claims applications.

"I still have Vietnam veterans who are chronically ill from Agent Orange," the director explained, "and they have no idea they're entitled to compensation."

Veterans missing out on benefits is not just a problem for Pennsylvania. Nationwide, veterans are either unaware of or elect not to receive benefits they are eligible for. The extensive backlog in claims at the VA is not making the process any easier for those who may consider applying for much-needed assistance. It is important to learn about the services available to you in order to receive the compensation you deserve.
